NGC6559

NGC 6559 is a star-forming region located at a distance of about 5000 light-years from Earth, in the constellation of Sagittarius, showing both emission (red) and reflection (bluish) regions. This image was created from raw data captured by a telescope high in the Chilean Andes run by Telescope.live. These deep sky objects are so dim that very long exposure images are required to collect enough light to produce a visible image. In this case, the exposure was 1600 minutes in length. In order to get the clearest image data, four filters were used - Hydrogen Alpha, Red, Green and Blue. 40 images of 10 minutes duration in each of the Ha, R, G, B filter bands were combined to produce this image. Image aligned, integrated and colour mapped by Arc Fortnight, original data downloaded from Telescope.live
